Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue Makes American Idol Appearance

American Idol had a surprise for auditioning contestants on Los Angeles’s Sunset Strip focused-episod Sunday night (March 20) on ABC with a guest appearance by Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx.

The opening segment–which talked about the storied alumni of the Strip from the Crue to Guns N’ Roses–featured one of the band’s biggest hits, “Home Sweet Home,” playing in the background as Sixx gave encouragement to a wide-eyed fan on the street.

Inside, Sixx welcomed judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan with an emphatic, “Welcome, Home Sweet Home,” as he performed solo on bass.
