Miley Cyrus, Def Leppard Members, Wolfgang Van Halen, Pink, More Jam at Taylor Hawkins Tribute (videos)

The late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins was honored by a star-studded bill of top-tier rock talent in Los Angeles Tuesday night (Sept. 27).

“We got a revolving door of rock heroes tonight, is what it is,” said Foo Fighters leader Dave Grohl.

Among the highlights of the evening–which was not livestreamed: Joan Jett (who called Hawkins a “beautiful soul” who “loved all kinds of stuff”)  jamming “Cherry Bomb” with Blink-182‘s Travis Barker on drums; Def Leppard‘s Joe ElliottRick Savage and Phil Collen cranking out “Photograph” with vocals by Miley CyrusPink joining Heart‘s Nancy Wilson for “Barracuda” and Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor for “Somebody to Love” (a song Hawkins sang often with Foo Fighters); The Pretty Reckless Taylor Momsen belting Soundgarden tunes alongside Matt CameronKim Thayil and Nirvana‘s Krist NovoselicJoe Walsh rocking out songs with The James Gang, and Metallica‘s Lars Ulrich and Black Sabbath‘s Geezer Butler rocking Sabbath tunes while Sebastian Bach sang lead.

Alanis Morissette joined Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith for “You Oughta Know,” ; Wolfgang Van Halen paid tribute with  Van Halen‘s “Hot For Teacher” and “Panama”; Mötley Crüe‘s Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee rocked with “Live Wire” (Derek Day on vocals) and set a mood with “Home Sweet Home”; and Tool‘s Danny Carey join Rush‘s Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson for “YYZ.”

 The show concluded with a jam session that included Rage Against the Machine‘s Brad Wilk, Weezer‘s Patrick Wilson and Hawkins’ son, Shane on drums for “My Hero” as well as the song “I’ll Stick Around.”
