Elton John Shuts Down Fifth Avenue for Saks Window Unveiling
Elton John was the special guest Tuesday (Nov. 22) at the unveiling of Saks Fifth Avenues famed holiday window display in New York City.
John performed on a grand piano in front of the store on Fifth Avenue for a special performance of “Your Song.” The event was attended by John’s husband, David Furnish, and their two sons.
This will help turbo charge our mission to end AIDS and it means a great deal to me to have your support –thank you so much,” said Elton. “I’m so thrilled to kick off the holiday season tonight and be a part of this spectacular and iconic window unveiling and light show.”
He then invited Saks CEO Marc Metrick, Furnish and the kids to join him for “the exciting part” — the countdown to the unveiling, which included John’s signature holiday hit, “Step Into Christmas.”
As previously reported, John partnered with Saks for a curated holiday collection. The proceeds will go to The Elton John AIDS Foundation. The collection is available to shop now and as part of the partnership, Saks is donating $1 million to the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
