Scorpions Announce Madison Square Garden Concert to Celebrate Bangladesh

The German rock band Scorpions will rock Madison Square Garden like a hurricane this spring to celebrate Bangladesh’s 50 years of independence and to help the U.N.D.P. launch a global awareness campaign on cyber security.

The Hannover, West Germany  band will hit the stage for the  Golden Jubilee Bangladesh Concert ,set for Friday, May 6. The show will feature one of Bangladesh’s most prominent artists, Chirkutt.

The event is organized by the Bangladesh Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division with the support of the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, the United Nations Development Programme, the U.S. Embassy in Bangladesh, and local sponsors.

The show is the second held for Bangladesh at Madison Square Garden. The country was famously supported by Beatle George Harrison, who organized the Concert for Bangladesh at The Garden August 1, 1971 with appearances by Harrison and Ravi Shankar, Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Billy Preston, Leon Russell, and Badfinger.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the United Nations Development Programme’s global awareness campaign on cyber security programs for the youth and children, especially in under developed countries.
