Foreigner Tribute Band to Feature Carteret HS Choir at Carteret PAC
Foreigner tribute band Double Vision–The Foreigner Experience will recreate one of the band’s signature onstage moments with an assist from The Carteret High School Choir, led by Mr. Kason Jackson, Friday (Dec. 16) at the Carteret Performing Arts Center.
Double Vision will perform “I Want to Know What Love Is” with the choir in an homage to the original recording and to the current band, who invites a local choir onstage at every tour stop to perform the song.
The group, lead singer Chandler Mogel said, is modelled after the last 15 years of the band with front man Kelly Hansen.
“Personally I think Foreigner in the last 15 years has been the best they have ever been as a live band, so we do a lot of things similar to how they do them in this current period, and it flows really well,” he said.
One of those moments is the recreation of inviting a choir onstage.
“We wanted to recreate what Foreigner does at their live shows,” he said. “Virtually every place they play they bring a live choir on, like a high school choir, to perform the song “I Want to Know What Love Is.” ..I think we are doing the ultimate justice to them by doing that as well.”
Foreigner had eight platinum albums in the U.S. and 16 top 40 hits on the Billboard charts. Some of their most notable songs, which are part of the Double Vision repertoire, include “Feels Like the First Time,” “Double Vision,” “Cold as Ice,” “Hot Blooded,” “Urgent,” “Waiting for a Girl Like You” and “I Want to Know What Love Is,” will be performed Friday night, as well as deep cuts.
“We’re playing all the hits every show, and we try to give people a little something extra they wouldn’t get at a current Foreigner show,” he said.
The choir is under the direction of Jackson, who is in his seventh year as Director of Vocal Music at Carteret High School. Mr. Jackson received his Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education with a concentration in Voice from Mason Gross School of the Arts of Rutgers University.
Separate Ways, the ultimate tribute to Journey, will open the show.
