Watch Cyndi Lauper and Sam Smith Duet on ‘Time After Time’ at MSG (Video)
Cyndi Lauper brought out special guest Sam Smith as a surprise for her “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” Farewell Tour at her sold-out Madison Square Garden Halloween Eve performance.
Smith was on hand for a beautiful duet of “Time After Time” for the show, a celebration of Lauper’s 40-plus-year career, brimming with nostalgia, vibrant visuals, and heartfelt moments.
This tour, her first major run in over a decade, includes 24 stops across North America before heading to Europe, Australia, and Japan next year.
The setlist included “She Bop,” “True Colors,” and a show-stopping finale with “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.”
According to a release, the show highlights Lauper’s lifelong passion for creative collaboration, showcasing works by acclaimed artists including Yayoi Kusama, Sonia Delaunay, Daniel Wurtzel, Reza Dolatabadi, and Refik Anadol, as well as fashion designer Christian Siriano. Kusama’s signature polka dots were prominently displayed on giant screens and in the performers’ costumes, while Wurtzel’s mesmerizing Air Fountain, featuring his largest-ever fabric creation, added movement and drama to the stage.
