Steven Van Zandt and the Disciples of Soul to Perform at the Count Basie Center for the Arts
E Street Band member Steven Van Zandt will use his brief time off from touring with Bruce Springsteen to play a show with his own band, Disciples of Soul, in a concert at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank on April 18.
According to a release, the band will present “Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul present SORCERY & SOULFIRE Live! At the Basie!” with a performance “reinventing songs from his two most recent LPs, 2017’s Soulfire and 2019’s acclaimed Summer of Sorcery, as well as fan favorites spanning his iconic career, with newly updated live arrangements. The performance will be captured for a new concert film to be released later this year.”
Van Zandt is set to be honored April 15 at Monmouth University in Long Branch at The Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music’s American Music Awards, alongside Darlene Love, Sam Moore, and Steve Earle. Jon Stewart will host, with award presenters including Bruce Springsteen, Patti Scialfa, Garry Tallent and Southside Johnny. The Disciples of Soul, with guitarist Marc Ribler serving as music director, will serve as the house band.
