Slash’s Top Hat Secrets: Revealed

Have you ever wondered why Slash wears that top hat all the top?

According to the Guns N’ Roses axe man, he stole his first hat from a Los Angeles store and a look was born, he revealed on a podcast with Conan O’ Brien. After he stole the hat, he went to ANOTHER store, and stole a concho belt and wore it on stage that night.

“It just became a thing where I just really identified with it,” he said.

The hat was functional, too, obscuring his eyes when he was high or covering up bad hair days. He even further hides from the audience when he adds sunglasses to complete the look.

“Put the hat on, and nobody knows who I am and what I’m doing and what I’m up to. I can see you, you can’t see me. During shows, it was great to have that because to this day, I still can’t look at the audience, like, straight into the audience.,” he said. “So having the top hat, really, you just pull it down and you could just do your thing and you didn’t feel as intimidated.”
