New WHAM! Documentary to Debut on Netflix

A new documentary chronicling the career of pop stars George Michael and Andrew Ridgely in Wham! will debut on Netflix July 5, the network announced.

Directed by Chris Smith (FYRE, Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond, “Sr.”), the film will show fans a behind the scenes look at the group’s rocket ride to the top of the pop charts.

“How can the country be in love with these two idiots?” the trailer jokes in a voiceover.

The film includes “unprecedented access to both George and Andrew’s personal archive including never-before-seen footage, and previously unheard interviews, WHAM! charts in their own words the four year journey from teenage school friends to global superstars.”

The story begins in 1982, and will take viewers through career highlights up to 1986 told “for the very first time, told in their own words, the amazing story of how in four years they dominated the charts around the world with timeless and classic pop songs. Hit after hit – Club Tropicana, Wake Me Up Before You Go Go, Freedom, I’m Your Man and of course Last Christmas.”
