New Jersey Topped This List in 2022
For the fifth year in a row, New Jersey tops the list as the most popular state to flee, according to a survey from United Van Lines.
Illinois was second, followed by New York, Michigan, Wyoming , Pennsylvania , Massachusetts, Nebraska, Louisiana and California.
Vermont saws the highest amount of inbound residents, with Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Delaware, North Carolina, Washington, D.C., which counted as a state, South Dakota , New Mexico and Alabama rounding out the top ten.
As for city destinations, people are moving to Wilmington, North Carolina, Bellingham, Washington, Santa Fe, New Mexico, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Punta Gorda, Florida and Flagstaff, Arizona.
