John Mellencamp Art Exhibit to Debut at the New York Academy of Art
John Mellencamp’s art will be the focus of a new exhibit debuting at The New York Academy of Art September 29 for a run through Nov. 15.
The exhibition, curated by Dexter Wimberly, will feature his large-scale oil portraits and mixed-media pieces. The art show coincides with the release of the John Mellencamp: American Paintings and Assemblages Coffee Table Art Book of Mellencamp’s work, set for October 18th via Rizzoli New York. The book features 170 original works, essays from David L. Shirley and Bob Guccione Jr, and a forward written by Dr. Louis A. Zona.
“Mellencamp is a very serious visual artist with a lot to say about life and the times we’re living in,” says Wimberly. “I’m thrilled to have an opportunity to share his work with a new audience of art enthusiasts and collectors.
The New York Academy of Art is located at 111 Franklin Street, NY.
