Malin -a regular Light of Day performer and supporter–revealed he collapsed in an East Village restaurant in 2023.
He said he and his former bandmates were marking the first anniversary of his friend and bass player Howie Pyro’s death when he felt a burning pain shoot down to his hips. He suffered a rare spinal stroke, and has since been working on his recovery with treatment in Argentina.
The recent benefits raised money for his Sweet Relief Fund, assisting his medical expenses.
All performances and events raised at Light of Day will raise money and awareness for its continuing quest to end Parkinson’s disease and its related illnesses ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) and PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy).
