Green Day Front Man Billie Joe Armstrong Rolls Out Kim Wilde Cover (Video)
Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong dipped his toe into the new wave waters for the latest installment in his “No Fun Mondays” series on social media.
Armstrong dialed it back to 1981 for a cover of Kim Wilde’s “Kids in America,” dedicating it to Green Day bass player Mike Dirnt in honor of his birthday.
‘Play this one loud just for him,” Armstrong said.
Armstrong launched the weekly series in March as response to the Covid-19 pandemic, and has so far covered:
I Think We’re Alone Now” by Tommy James & the Shondells, “Manic Monday” by The Bangles with Susanna Hoffs, and the Adam Schlesinger-penned song “That Thing You Do!”
