Golden Bachelor Couple Gerry Turner and Teresa Nist Divorcing
It’s over for The Golden Bachelor couple couple Gerry Turner and and Shrewsbury’s Theresa Nist.
The pair announced this morning on Good Morning America that after three months of marriage, they are getting divorced.
“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation, so forth and — and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to — dissolve our marriage,” Turner told Juju Chang in an interview for GMA.
“Get a divorce?” Chang clarified. “Yes,” Turner said.
Turner continued: “The thing that strikes me the most in our conversations, it’s been how dedicated both of us are to our families … So we look at these situations and I think we just feel like it’s best for the happiness of each of us to, to live apart.”
Turner explained the challenges the pair faced after their highly rated television wedding–officiated by Golden Bachelorette Susan Noles–when trying to figure out where they should settle down.
“We looked at homes in South Carolina, we considered New Jersey, and we just looked at homes after home, but we never got to the point where we made that decision.”
Nist resides in New Jersey while Gerry is based in Indiana. The two bonded on the reality dating show over similar histories of marrying their high school sweethearts and both being widow.
Nist told Juju that pair looked at “home after home” but “never got to the point where we made that decision,” she said.
The pair held hands during the interview, and emphasized they still love each other. The pair will return the rings, and revealed they had both signed a pre-nuptial agreement prior to marrying.
“I still love this person,” Turner said. “There’s no doubt in my mind, I still am in love with her. I root for her every day.”
Nist added, “Yeah, I still love him.”
The pair both said separately that they will continue to look for love.
Nist said fans have told them their story, “gave them so much hope,” adding, “We want none of that to change for anybody.”
The pair will be seen again as a couple with their blended family in August on a future episode of ABC’s Celebrity Family Feud with host Steve Harvey. The Golden Bachelor team will face off against Bachelor stars Golden Bachelor team faced off against some other Bachelor Nation personalities, including Zach Shallcross, Kaity Biggar, Joey Graziadei, Kelsey Anderson, Charity Lawson, and Dotun Olubeko.
