Elton John ‘Not in Mood’ to Write New Music
Elton John’s newest set, Jewel Box, is out on Nov. 13, but if you are a fan waiting on new music, it’s going to be a long winter.
“I’m not in the mood right now to do an Elton record,” he tells Rolling Stone.
Despite the fact that his songwriting partner, Bernie Taupin, has sent him some new ideas, he just isn’t feeling it right now. The closest thing he has is a collaboration with NJ pop star Charlie Puth.
“I don’t feel like writing Elton songs,” he said. “I’ve written a song with Charlie Puth that hasn’t come out yet.”
“I’ve been keeping busy doing other things with other people. And I do my radio show every week. But I’m not in the mood,” he continued. “I’ve just been catching up with my family and spending the time with my two boys and [my husband] David [Furnish]. To be honest with you, it was a little strange at first. But I’m really lapping it up…I’m doing the best of it, trying to make a silver lining out of a dark cloud.”
Jewel Box, a set of rarities, is a career spanning eight song CD set that includes rare gems from as early as 1969.
