Christine McVie Wins a Posthumous Grammy

Late Fleetwood Mac singer/songwriter/keyboardist Christine McVie was honored Sunday night (Feb. 5) won a posthumous Grammy Award with Vince Mendoza for Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals for the orchestral version of “Songbird.” 

The track was featured on Songbird – A Solo Collection, a retrospective collection of McVie’s work that was released in June 2022.

 “I owe a debt of gratitude to Christine McVie and for so many of her stories and musical moments,” Mendoza said in his acceptance speech. “I was 16 when ‘Rumours’ came out. This music and that record have followed me throughout my life. Thank you to Christine for allowing me to step into it.”

McVie was later honored during the show’s In Memoriam segment with a performance of the song by Mick Fleetwood, Bonnie Raitt and Sheryl Crow.

McVie died at the age of 79 on Nov. 30.
