Charlie Watts Laid to Rest; Stones Unable to Attend
Covid restrictions prevented the surviving members of The Rolling Stones from attending the funeral late drummer Charlie Watts, according to the UK publication The Sun.
The band is holding rehearsals in Boston for their upcoming tour of the U.S., and travel restrictions prevented them from being present at a small private ceremony for Watts was held in Devon, U.K..
Nevertheless, The Stones will honor his memory on upcoming dates of the band’s No Filter tour, which kicks off on September 26. The group is also organizing a celebration of his life that will be held in the U.K. later in 2021.
Watts passed away at the age of 80 on August 24. Drummer Steve Jordan–who was originally tapped for the No Filter tour dates–will handle duties behind the kit.
