Bruce Springsteen Appears in Video Supporting Lwala Community Hospital
Bruce Springsteen has leant his voice to fundraising efforts for a community hospital in Lwala, Kenya, making an appeal in a recent video.
Springsteen first learned of the need for the hospital -founded by Milton and Fred Ochieng–from a friend visiting the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s home in 2007.
“The Ocheing family story is an inspirational one that has touched my wife, Patti (Scialfa) and I and improved hundreds of thousands of people’s lives,” he said.
The singer said that in 2007, the hospital was merely an idea.
“The nearest medical facility from Lwala at that time was a two hour trek away,” he said.
After talking about the strides the hospital will be taking for women’s healthcare, he said he was “excited” about the endowment.
“It means healthcare for the people in Lwala and its neighboring communities for generations,” he said.
