Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band Top the Charts with ‘Letter To You’
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band has made Billboard chart history with their recent album, Letter to You, hitting the No. 2 position on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the top Rock album chart with 96,000 sales, according to Nielson.
Springsteen is now the first artist to have top-five albums on the tally in each of the last six decades — the 1970s, ’80s, ’90s, 2000s, ’10s and ’20s. 92,000 of the sales of Letter To You were physical copies. Letter to You also premiered at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Vinyl Albums chart after selling 18,000 copies in the format. This is his 21st album overall to reach the top five of the Billboard 200.
Elsewhere around the globe, the record hit the top spot in eleven countries. In the UK, Letter To You is Springsteen’s twelfth #1 and the second biggest album of the year to date. In Ireland, it is the fastest selling album of 2020 so far, outselling the others in the top five combined, and Springsteen’s sixth consecutive #1 studio album. The #4 debut for Letter To You in France makes it the top international debut of the year. Letter To You was also the top selling international album in Germany in its first week, and brought 2019 release Western Stars back onto the charts.
