Billy Joel Announces Show Number 88 at Madison Square Garden
Billy Joel’s historic arena run at Madison Square Garden continues through 2023 with the announcement of his 88th show in his monthly residency, he announced today.
Billy Joel was named Madison Square Garden’s first-ever music franchise in December, 2013, joining the ranks of the storied venue’s other original franchises – the New York Knicks and New York Rangers. The record-breaking residency began in January 2014 with Joel playing one show every month at The Garden, “as long as the demand continues,” says Joel.
In other news, the Piano Man can be seen in movie theatres this weekend on Oct. 9 with “Live At Yankee Stadium” — remixed and re-edited in 4K and Dolby ATMOS. The iconic concert will also be available on digital, vinyl, CD and Blu-Ray from Nov 4.
Joel is a six-time GRAMMY® Award winner, including the prestigious Grammy Legend Award. He has been inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has received numerous industry awards including a TONY AWARD for “Movin’ Out,” a Broadway musical based on Joel’s music. For his accomplishments as a musician and as a humanitarian, Joel was honored as the 2002 MusiCares Person Of The Year by the MusiCares Foundation and the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, according to a statement.
