Battle of the Bands: Eddie Vedder Vs. Motley Crue
Eddie Vedder’s war of words against Motley Crue continued Sunday night at his show at the NJ Performing Arts Center in Newark, NJ.
To recap: Vedder took a shot at 1980s bands he “despised,” including Motley Crue. Crue founder Nikki Sixx responded in kind on Twitter, calling out Pearl Jam.
“Made me laugh today reading how much the singer in Pearl Jam hated @MotleyCrue. Now considering that they’re one of the most boring bands in history it’s kind of a compliment isn’t it?” he wrote.
Fast forward to Vedder’s show at the PAC, where Vedder lobbed a verbal missile at Crue drummer Tommy Lee when introducing Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, who is behind the kit for Vedder’s Earthlings tour.
“That drum kit — that silver, beautiful machine that he is the engine of — does not need to elevate or rotate to do its job. Let me just point that out.”
The Pearl Jam account joined in the back and forth, tweeting “We love our bored fans.”
