Stone Pony Summer Stage Series Cancelled for 2020
The Stone Pony is officially scrapping its entire 2020 Summer Stage series, the venue announced this morning.
The venue is already eyeing a 2021 re-opening with resecheduled shows, including Southside Johnny’s annual 4th of July show, moved to July 3, 2021.
“The Stone Pony Summer Stage has become an integral part of the Jersey Shore, as well as an essential piece of the overall viability of The Stone Pony. As we will have to look to next year to bring back our outdoor series, we want to thank our amazing fans who have supported us in the recent months by visiting our online store as well as showing encouragement for new projects we may need to venture into. Let us always keep our hearts open to the healing power of music.” said Caroline O’Toole, General Manager of The Stone Pony.
The Stone Pony has taken several initiatives to provide sunshine in a dark year as the Covid-19 crisis forced many touring acts to cancel or postpone their tours. The Pony Hope By Design Contest was created to raise funds for the New Jersey Pandemic Fund. Additionally, The concert venue provided iconic Pony marquee changes and photos for graduates, with all proceeds going towards the Asbury Park Dinner Table. There is also a billboard in the community stating “We are with Asbury Park”.
To soften the blow, the Pony is asking fans to share “selfies” of their greatest concert moments at The Stone Pony Summer Stage. Photos shared will be considered for a chance to be included in a Summer Stage video. Email to summerstagelove@stoneponyonline.com
The Stone Pony and Summer Stage partner Live Nation Entertainment are already seeing a strong 2021 lineup taking form, which includes several rescheduled concerts previously slated for this summer, as well as new additions.
