In an interview with Rolling Stone, Ozzy Osbourne revealed he knew that Van Halen was “battling an illness.”

“I have the same doctor as him. I used to pass messages through her to him, and she would never tell me the condition he was in or whatever. She would say, ‘What do you want to say?’ And I would say, ‘I send my regards.’ So it really was a shock, because he was a good guy,” he said. “He really was a good man.”

“It’s always a sad day when somebody like that dies. It’s like when Michael Jackson died. I didn’t believe it at first. It’s such a fucking loss.”

Jon Bon Jovi honored Van Halen during an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, saying “He was an innovator, a genuine, unique soul and there’s a huge hole now there forever.”
