Studio D’ Lux–a new supergroup of musicians featuring former Chicago lead singer, keyboard player and Grammy Award winner, Bill Champlin; Billy Joel drummer Liberty Devitto; and Whitesnake and Trans-Siberian Orchestra guitarist Joel Hoekstra; alongside singer, songwriter and instrumentalist Doug Kistner, who has performed with Trans-Siberian Orchestra, John Waite and more-is giving fans a taste of its self-titled EP with the release of the new single, “Light Still Shines.”

The studio project–helmed by Verona, NJ resident Kistner, who writes and produces all the songs released by the groups-already racked up over 80K streams on Spotify with its debut single, “Ain’t Good Enough.

The EP also includes contributions from Elliot Randall (Steely Dan), Jon Herington (Steely Dan), and Glen Burtnik (Styx, The Weeklings).

Champlin–famed for his vocal parts in the Chicago hits “Hard Habit to Break” and “Look Away” as well as his work in Sons of Champlin) sings lead on the song, which mixes elements of AOR and classic rock and “Yacht Rock” amidst the uplifting lyrics, “Where are the signs as u look everywhere Searching for answers but nothing is clear/ It takes some time And you question why Lying in the dark /There is a power that we we’ll never know….” The answer comes in the chorus, asserting: “when you feel like you’re losing your soul, when you feel the loss of a soul, Light Still Shines!” Hoekstra handles the guitar solos on “Light Still Shines,” with Devitto on drums.
