Doobie Brothers Postpone Shows Due to Covid

The Doobie Brothers has postponed four concert dates on due to members of their touring band testing positive for Covid-19.

Singer/keyboardist Michael McDonald sat out Tuesday’s night’s show at the Minnesota State Fair, with Doobie’s member Patrick Simmons explaining to the crowd that the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer was on the mend.

“He’s recuperating and isolating. We hope to have him back in a week or so,” he said, adding that “it’s what’s happening these days.”

The band–currently celebrating its 50th anniversary– announced in a statement that “out of an abundance of caution — shows that had been scheduled for September 2 in Clarkson, Michigan; September 4 in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania; September 5 in Toledo, Ohio; and September 8 in Cincinnati.”

The group has a COVID compliance officer traveling on the tour, and all band members and crew personnel have been vaccinated.
