Def Leppard Guitarist Phil Collen Talks Stadium Tour, ‘Diamond Star Halos” and Peloton

Def Leppard’s new album, “Diamond Star Halos,” is set for release tomorrow (May 27), and to celebrate the band released a new video for the track, “Fire It Up.”

The band is hitting the road this summer with Motley Crue, Poison, and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts in support of the record, and to help themselves–and their fans–get in tour shape, the band partnered with Peloton for a workout set to its greatest hits.

Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen checked in with 1071 The Boss midday host Michele Amabile to talk about the tour, his own workout routine, and all about the record and how Led Zeppelin icon Robert Plant assisted with getting Alison Krauss to guest on a few tracks.

“Diamond Star Halos” takes it’s title from the T-Rex song, “Bang a Gong,” Collen revealed, taking Amabile behind the scenes of how the band recorded remotely, and which song from the ’80s written by Collen singer Joe Elliott said he was “dying to record.” The two also stretched out a bit to reminisce about the night the band was inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the song Michele wished they had played!
