Bruce Springsteen, Bob Weir and More to Honor Joe Strummer in Virtual Concert

Bruce Springsteen will participate in a virtual tribute to the late Clash frontman Joe Strummer this Friday (Aug. 21).

The concert–which will stream live on YouTube and JoeStrummer.com at 3 p.m. EST—will also feature appearances by The Grateful Dead‘s Bob Weir, Rage Against the Machine‘s Tom Morello, The Dropkick Murphys, Brian Fallon of The Gaslight Anthem, Dhani Harrison, photographer Bob Gruen, actors Steve Buscemi and Matt Dillon and more. Jesse Malin will host the event.

“To see so many musicians and artists come forward to honor Joe is really touching,” says Stummer’s widow, Lucinda Tait. “Whether it was playing music with friends, organizing all night campfires, or hijacking festivals, Joe was always focused on bringing people together. Even though we can’t all be in the same room together, I cannot think of a better way for us all to feel united. Joe would have loved this.”

Strummer passed away in 2002 at age 50 of a heart defect.
