Woodstock “Anniversary Week’ with Ringo Starr, Santana, Announced
Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band are on board to headline a week of shows at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the original Woodstock, promoters announced.
Starr will perform on Aug. 16. Santana, Arlo Guthrie and Edgar Winter--who all appeared at the original 1969 festival at Yasgur’s Farm–will also appear at what’s being billed as an “Anniversary Week” of concerts, dubbed the Bethel Woods Music and Culture Festival. As a bonus, The Doobie Brothers, who are touring with Santana this summer, will appear. They will perform with Santana at the Center on Aug. 17.
“Anniversary Week” will kick off August 15 with a screening of the Director’s Cut of the Oscar-winning 1970 documentary Woodstock. The festivities will begin early this spring with the unveiling of an exhibit titled We Are Golden — Reflections on the 50th Anniversary of the Woodstock Festival and Aspirations for a Peaceful Future, on March 30.
In other news, plans are still underway for Woodstock 50–an official 50th anniversary celebration of the 1969 Woodstock festival– August 16 to August 18 at Watkins Glen International race track in Watkins Glen, New York.
