Will Phil Collins Reunite with Genesis?
Is Phil Collins entertaining the idea of a Genesis reunion?
In a recent Rolling Stone interview, Collins says that it isn’t out of the question. However, he cannot get behind the drum kit. It’s a good thing his mates Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks have positive things to day about Phil’s son, Nic, who has been handling the skins for his father for the live shows.
“They both were raving about Nic,” Collins said of a conversation he had with Banks and Rutherford last summer. “Mike made the appropriate comment of, ‘He just gets it. He just gets what is needed and what is required and why you’re doing this for that song.’ I thought that was a wonderful thing to say. He was 16 at that point.”
“I think that, yeah, if we did anything I think it would have to be with Nic on drums because I don’t think I’m capable of it,” Collins added. “I think their opinion of Nic is high enough for them to take him onboard as part of the band.”
Collins will release his new record, Plays Well With Others, on Sept. 28. His “Not Dead Yet” tour will launch in October, with a stop at the Prudential Center Oct. 13.
