The late Tom Petty was bestowed a big honor at the 29th Annual Pollstar Awards in Los Angeles.
The band’s 40th anniversary tour, which grossed $64.7 million in 2017, received the Major Tour of the Year and Rock Tour of the Year Awards. Petty passed away one week after the global trek’s conclusion.
“We all miss Tom. He was a great leader and a great friend,” said Heartbreakers drummer Steve Ferrone as he took the podium to accept the award. “And boy could he rock, what a great rock ‘n’ roll band.”
Other rockers in attendance included Jon Bon Jovi, Lita Ford and Sharon Osbourne.
