Steve Van Zandt Talks ‘Possibility’ of New E Street Record

E Street Band member Steve Van Zandt is still on the road supporting his newest album, “Summer of Sorcery,” but he reveals in a new interview that his schedule may be a bit bare after it wraps in the fall.

The reason, he tells The Wrap, is the recent revelation that Bruce Springsteen has a new album’s worth of material ready to go for the E Street Band, with an eye on a release date of 2020–and a tour.

“I certainly am planning on the possibility,” he says. “I wanted to leave room in case he wants to do a record with the E Street Band and we will have time to do it November, December and be able to deliver it in January (of 2020) and then be out (on the road) in the summer of 2020. IF that’s what he wants to do.”

As for Springsteen’s newest release, “Western Stars,” Van Zandt gives it a thumbs up.

“He’s so versatile and has a wide range of talent when it comes to his artistic vision,” he says. “And it’s always interesting when he picks a new hybrid genre to explore and I thought it was wonderful.”

In the meantime, Van Zandt has left November through January wide open.

“Bruce will always remain a first priority to me and we’ll see what he wants to do,” he says.
