Steve Perry Drops New Song; Announces Album Details (Listen)
This is not a drill! Steve Perry is releasing a new record, Traces, in October and is giving fans a taste with a brand new song.
The former Journey front man shared his lead single, “No Erasin’,” off his 10-song comeback album, and took to social media to explain how it all came to fruition.
“Years ago, I disappeared. There were many reasons, but mainly… my love for music had suddenly left me,” he wrote on his website. “I knew that simply stopping, was what I had to do. If music was ever to return to my heart, then and only then I would figure out what to do,” he begins. “If not… so be it, for I had already lived the dream of dreams.”
“Then another beautiful thing happened,” he wrote. “I found love.”
Perry is referring to his late girlfriend, psychologist Kellie Nash, who passed away after her longtime battle with breast cancer.
“My precious Kellie gave me a life I never knew I had. I lost her December of 2012. … May of 2015, I began recording. These songs are special to me. I respectfully ask that you please listen to them.”
The beautiful lyrics from his journey, with the opening lines: “I know it’s been a long time comin’ Since I saw your face It’s been so long since we’re together, In the back seat of your car.”
Perry teased the song on earlier this week, sharing handwritten lyrics on his social accounts.
