If you are still stuck on a what to buy Ringo Starr in honor of his 77th birthday this Friday (July 7)–don’t fret. All the legendary Beatle drummer wants is a little Peace and Love.
Starr will be the entertainment at his own birthday party in Hollywood this week as he and his all-star band–including Van Dyke Parks and Jenny Lewis–will perform outside of the Capitol Records Tower. He will also be assisted with a little help from his friends, including: brother-in-law Joe Walsh, E Street Band guitarist Nils Lofgren, Eric Burdon, Edgar Winter and director David Lynch.
If you are worried your invitation got lost in the mail, not to worry. As is tradition, fans are invited to take selfies of themselves flashing the peace sign and share them on social media pages at noon with the hashtag #peaceandlove.
“I can’t think of a better way to celebrate my birthday, or a better gift I could ask for, then Peace and Love,” Starr said in a statement.
Starr launched the annual Peace and Love events during 2008 in Chicago, and he’s also held them all around the globe. Peace and Love events will happen simultaneously in New York, London, Liverpool, Las Vegas, Colombia, Peru, Spain, New Zealand Panama, Russia, Japan, Brazil, Africa, India, and Antarctica.
Ringo’s All Starr Band is touring in the fall, with stops in New Jersey Nov. 14 at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown and Nov. 16 at the NJPAC in Newark.
