Queen + Adam Lambert Announce New York City Tour Date
Hot on the heels of the release of Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen + Adam Lambert has announced a North American tour for 2019, including a stop at Madison Square Garden on Aug. 6.
The tour–which will kick off July 10 at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver–is appropriately named the Rhapsody tour, and will include a whole new stage and light show that guitarist Brian May promises will outdo themselves.
“Our last tour featured our most ambitious production ever, and got us our best notices ever,” he said. “So we decided to rip it apart and get even more ambitious.”
The band–including vocalist Lambert, drummer Roger Taylor, Spike Edney on keyboards, Neil Fairclough on bass, and Tyler Warren on percussion–will play 23 dates. Lambert–who just performed at the Kennedy Honors celebrating icon Cher with a duet of “I Got You Babe”–said the new stage design differs from the recent residency at the MGM Park Theater in Las Vegas.
“We have been designing a brand new visual spectacle that will reframe these iconic songs and we are excited to unveil it,” he said.
The tour includes a stop at The Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Aug. 3.
In other news, Bohemian Rhapsody continues to dominate at the box office, drawing worldwide box office receipts in excess of $500 million.
Tickets for the Rhapsody tour go on sale to the general public starting December 7th at LiveNation.com at Noon. Queen and Adam Lambert Fan Club Presales will run from Noon through 10 p.m. local time on Thursday, December 6th.
