New Movie Imagines a World Where The Beatles Don’t Exist (Watch the Trailer)

Now here is a great premise for a movie–what if you woke up in a world where The Beatles didn’t exist–and you are the only one who knows the songs?

That is the plot for a new movie, Yesterday. In the trailer, the protagonist–Jack Malik (portrayed by Himesh Patel, BBC’s Eastenders)–has a bicycle accident and then awakens in a world where The Beatles never existed and Coldplay is the gold standard for music. Malik then becomes a star performing songs by “the greatest band in history to a world that has never heard them,” making him a big star–but possibly losing his true love in the process.

The film also stars Saturday Night Live star Kate McKinnon, Lily James (Mamma Mia!) and Ed Sheeran (yes, that Ed Sheeran).  Academy Award®-winning director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting, 28 Days Later) and Richard Curtis, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter of Four Weddings and a Funeral, Love Actually and Notting Hill.
