Michele Interviews Quiet Riot Drummer Frankie Banali

Quiet Riot are hitting the road hard this year, and the band will make a stop at Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park Saturday night (April 6).

The band–which features  American Idol Season 10 alum James Durbin (Vocals) Frankie Banali (Drums) Alex Grossi (Guitar) and Chuck Wright (Bass)–are putting the final touches on a new album, which could be released later this year.

Banali called in to 1071 The Boss to talk about the show, how Durbin is filling the late Kevin Dubrow’s shoes (“this kid’s got pipes,” he said), swap some rock stories  as well as share some touching remembrances about Dubrow with mid-day host Michele Amabile.

“It was never about replacing Kevin,” he said. “He is irreplaceable.”

Asked what Dubrow would have thought of his plastic surgeon brother Terry Dubrow’s show, Botched, Banali laughed.

“He probably would have brought girlfriends in and try to get a deal,” he said.

Tickets are $30. Doors open at 7 p.m. Asbury Lanes are located at 209 4th Ave., Asbury Park. For more information, call (732) 776-6160
