Metallica front man James Hetfield is heading for the big screen in his first ever dramatic role.
Hetfield will join join Zac Efron, who stars as serial killer Ted Bundy in the film, “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.” Hetfield will be playing Utah highway patrol Officer Bob Hayward, the first law enforcement officer to arrest Bundy in 1975.
The film centers on Bundy’s relationship with his girlfriend, portrayed by Lily Collins (daughter of Phil Collins). The film is directed by Joe Berlinger. Hetfield and Berlinger collaborated on the documentary “Metallica: Some Kind of Monster.”
“Having spent hundreds of hours behind the scenes with James and the rest of Metallica, I have experienced his charisma and powerful presence close up,” said Berlinger of Hetfield’s acting debut. “It seemed only natural that he would bring that same power and magnetism to a dramatic role, so when he agreed to my pitch that he be in the movie, I was thrilled.”
