Lynyrd Skynyrd was forced to cancel today’s show (Aug. 8) at the Buffalo Chip campground in Sturgis, South Dakota due to founding guitarist Gary Rossington undergoing a medical procedure.
Rossington received medical attention last week to treat blocked arteries around his heart, the band reported on its Facebook page.
“This past Friday, Gary Rossington had to undergo a procedure to address some blockage in his arteries to his heart,” reads the note. “Gary was released Friday evening and has been home recovering and in good spirits.”
While doctors have advised he rest, the band asserted it will “commence touring” with Hank Williams Jr., and Aaron Lewis this Friday.”
The band’s future dates include a stop at Louisiana’s Flambeau Fest Oct. 7.
Skynyrd is set to play Jones Beach Theatre in Wantagh, NY on Aug. 25.
