Lynyrd Skynyrd Announces NJ Tour Date

Lynyrd Skynyrd are adding more dates for the “Last of the Street Survivors” Farewell tour–and it includes a stop in the Garden State.

Skynyrd will appear at the BB&T Center in Camden August 30, according to an announcement made by the band today (Feb. 4). That date includes opener Hank Williams Jr.

The tour is named after the Lynyrd Skynyrd song, “The Last of the Street Survivors” and the band’s fifth studio album Street Survivors.

The farewell tour features original member Gary Rossington joined by Johnny Van Zant, Rickey Medlocke, Mark “Sparky” Matejka, Michael Cartellone, Keith Christopher, Peter Keys, Dale Krantz Rossington, Carol Chase and special guest Jim Horn.

Appearing last week on the PBS interview series Speakeasy, Van Zandt said that “People who love Skynyrd music are not fans to us. You’re family…It’s a big family.”

He also teased that it may not be the end of the group.

“I was talking to the guys and they said, ‘You know what the best part about a farewell tour?’ And I said, ‘No, what’s that?” And they said, ‘The reunion tour,” he said.
