Led Zeppelin Documentary in the Works

The history of Led Zeppelin will be told by the band in their own words  as part of a new documentary celebrating its 50th anniversary.

The “first of its kind project” will include interviews with Jimmy Page, singer Robert Plant and bassist John Paul Jones with rare archival interviews with the group’s late drummer, John Bonham.

The project will be directed by director/writer Bernard MacMahon and guided by the team behind the PBS series, American Epic.

“When I saw everything Bernard had done both visually and sonically on the remarkable achievement that is American Epic, I knew he would be qualified to tell our story,” said Page in a statement.

Jones said the reason for a documentary was timing.

“The time was right for us to tell our own story for the first time in our own words, and I think that this film will really bring that story to life,” he said.

The film will look for a distributor at France’s Cannes Film Festival, which kicks off May 14, reports Variety.
