Jersey Devil and Fable Festival Coming to Asbury Park This Saturday
Spring is in the air, and what better way to celebrate than in Asbury Park with the second annual Jersey Devil and Fable Festival–Walpurshinacht.
What is Walpurshinacht, you ask? It’s the traditional celebration of the return of spring, when the spirits of the earth and forest have their last hurrah and the seasons change to light again, according to folklore.
A full day of activities, including a walking tour, is planned from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday (May 4) presented by Paranormal Books and Curiosities, 621 Cookman Avenue, Asbury Park.
Guests are encouraged to bring their own brooms for a Hansel & Gretal Stories of the Black Forest Walking Tour, and other events.
The day includes guest speakers and walking tours, kicking off at 1 p.m. with a talk exploring “The Secret History of the Jersey Devil,” How Quakers, Hucksters and Benjamin Franklin Created a Monster, with author Dr. Brian Regal of Kean University.
