HBO to Air Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Saturday (Video)
This Saturday night (May 5) HBO will premiere its special for the 2018 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, featuring concert highlights from all six inductees.
To recap: Bon Jovi, The Moody Blues, The Cars, Dire Straits, the late Nina Simone and the late Sister Rosetta Tharpe were honored at the event, which took place April 14 at Cleveland’s Public Auditorium.
“Thank you for making this dream a reality,” said a humble Jon Bon Jovi in his speech, which will be highlighted on the show.
Backstage at the ceremony, The New 1071 The Boss asked The Cars if it was difficult to pick four songs to perform, and Keyboardist Greg Hawkes gave an illuminating answer.
“We finally decided on the fourth song — what is today, Saturday? — Thursday, I guess,” he said. “Just two days ago we finally figured it out. And it, we just kept going back and forth, and some people would like, you know, one song over another, and we argued, we arm-wrestled, and then once we rehearsed, it just sort of became a little more apparent which ones we could play better.”
The final song picked? “Movin’ in Stereo.”
Also appearing in the special-E Street Band legend Steven Van Zandt, who introduced a new category of iconic songs to be inducted into the hall.
