Happy 40th Anniversary to The Cars

Today (June 6) marks the 4oth anniversary of The Cars self-titled debut album .

Released on June 6, 1978 on Elektra Records, the album featured the three charting singles “Just What I Needed,” “My Best Friend’s Girl,” and “Good Times Roll,” as well as several album-oriented rock radio hits. The record was a major success for the band, remaining on the charts for 139 weeks. It has been recognized as one of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers best albums.

In celebration of this milestone year,  a new biography concentrating on the life of the late Benjamin Orr is  coming out in November.  Written by Joe Milliken, the book–“Let’s Go!: Benjamin Orr and The Cars” is out Nov. 15 and  is now available for pre-order.
