The 2018 Light of Day celebration is under way, with a full schedule of entertainment through Sunday (Jan. 14) raising money and awareness in the ongoing effort against Parkinson’s disease.
The 10-day festival includes a special appearance on Saturday night by Greg Kihn, who will bring his acoustic storytelling tour to McCloone’s Supper Club in Asbury Park Saturday night (Jan. 13) at 7 p.m. with opener Ben Arnold.
Greg called in to mid-day host Michele Amabile to talk about his new album, Rekihndled, the first new album by The Greg Kihn Band in 21 years.
“How many albums have I had with Kihn in the title?” he jokes.
Greg has a lot to talk about, from his new music, his groundbreaking video for “Jeopardy” and subsequent relationship with Weird Al Yankovic and the “mailbox checks” he still gets, that time he married a couple in a wave park (seriously) and that time he sang a song Bruce Springsteen wrote for him with the wrong lyrics.
Winterfest as always wraps up Saturday night at The Paramount with Bob’s Birthday Bash, this year with headlining act La Bamba’s Big Band and Friends. The event honors music industry veteran, Bob Benjamin, who manages Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers. Benjamin has been living with Parkinson’s since 1996.
