Foreigner at the Basie and Featured on AXS TV Tonight

Foreigner is performing tonight at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank tonight, but you can catch their original lead singer, Lou Gramm, on your television with Dan Rather on The Big Interview, 8 p.m. on AXSTV.

Gramm is joined by guitarist Mick Jones for a sit down that discusses the band, and the conflicts that lead to his split with the group in 2003.

“I think when we were supposed to be at our creative best, which was when we were writing songs, there seemed to be either miscommunication or sometimes no communication,” Gramm says. “Someone would end up at the end of a day or two very unfulfilled, and you’d start putting a wall up.”

Jones also talks about his issues with substance abuse, and the early successes that caused pressure.

“We had a lot to prove,” Jones says. “On our first album we reached four-and-a-half-million records…[T]hat was unbelievable and…there was a lot of pressure to come through and confirm that with more success.”
