Elton John Working on New Musical Based on ‘The Devil Wears Prada’

Elton John is bringing Miranda Priestley to Broadway with a musical adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada.

Tony-winner Anna D. Shapiro will direct the show, which is based on the hit 2006 film starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway.  Elton is writing the music for the production, with book and lyrics penned by composer Shaina Taub.

The Devil Wears Prada will be Elton’s fifth musical, following The Lion King, Aida, Billy Elliot and Lestat. 

In other news, Elton’s memoir arrives Oct. 15, according to a release.

“I have grown up in a period of extraordinary change in our world — and have had the joyful honor of rubbing shoulders and working with so many of the people at the heart of these changes,” he says in a statement. “My life has been one helluva roller coaster ride and it’s still lumbering on.
