Elton John Special Airs Tonight on CBS

Elton John will be celebrated tonight on CBS with the broadcast of a star-studded tribute: Elton John: I’m Still Standing–A GRAMMY Salute.

Filmed at Madison Square Garden, the songs are featured in the two tribute records released last Friday: Revamp and Restoration.

“For all these artists to have come together and voluntarily agreed to do this…without much cajoling, I have to say, is a huge tribute to us, and it gives me a warm feeling,” says Elton. “It’s the most wonderful feeling when someone…sings your song and so I’m absolutely thrilled and delighted.”

Elton himself performs on two numbers: “Bennie and the Jets” and “Philadelphia Freedom,” plus the finale of “I’m Still Standing.

The special airs 9 p.m. tonight on CBS.
