Elton John Needs a Snickers Bar in New Ad
Elton John is latest start to appear in a new ad for Snickers candy bars, according to Variety.
The newest spot in Snicker’s “You’re not you when you’re hungry” campaign opens with a rap battle is taking place in a living room. After one rapper disses another, the battle’s host goads another rapper to respond in kind, saying “Give it up for, Boogie.”
Instead of hot rhymes, Sir Elton appears to sing his hit, “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.”
A guest at the battle comes to the rescue, offering Elton the candy saying, “Here. Eat a Snickers. You always lose your edge when you’re hungry.”
Elton takes a bite and transforms into the rapper, Boogie, who delivers a more in-your-face response.
Elton-a hip-hop fan-says he wanted to be a part of this because of his love of the genre and the campaign.
“I love the direction the new Snickers ads have humorously portrayed being off your game when you’re hungry, but in a way that’s current and relevant to young people, especially considering hip hop is one of the biggest music genres in the world today,” he said in a statement.
The campaign launches internationally on Saturday, September 1.
