Def Leppard Guitarist Phil Collen Previews NJ Tour Date

Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen has returned to the tour with Journey, which lands at the Prudential Center in Newark on Friday night (June 15).

Does Collen–who had to depart the tour due to a family emergency, but returned a few days later–ever get tired of playing the hits?

“People ask me if it gets old. Are you kidding me? I’m 60 now and the fact that I can perform these songs and the audience is still singing along is the best thing in the world,” he told NorthJersey.com.  We’re very humble to be able to still be doing this.”

The group recently released the first of a projected four-volume career-spanning box sets, with Volume One set for release in multidisc LP and CD collections. According to the press release for the set, “The Volume One collection includes bonus material including Live At The LA Forum 1983, originally released as a bonus disc in the deluxe CD version of Pyromania, making this the first-ever vinyl offering of the complete show. This 2-LP version comes with a new sleeve and inner bags. Rarities Volume 1 has been specially compiled by Joe Elliott, containing rare B-sides and recordings from Def Leppard’s early years, all in a newly commissioned sleeve. Finally, rounding out this collection is the 7-inch vinyl single and 3-inch CD of Def Leppard’s original, self-titled EP.”
