After months of voting, Bon Jovi fans can celebrate a major victory today (Dec. 6), as the band is the big winner in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame vote.
The band racked up a whopping 1,162,098 votes, besting The Moody Blues (947, 726), Dire Straits (613,726), The Cars (552,707) and Judas Priest (538,467).
The win is a good indicator of whether or not Bon Jovi will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next April. Previous winners–including KISS, Journey and Chicago–were all inducted after winning the ballot. The five top-vote getters in the fan vote are put on a single ballot, which counts as one of 900 submitted by the Hall’s 900 other voters (which include artists, music industry insiders and historians).
The Class of 2018 will be announced on Dec. 13.
